Red Rose Media & Marketing named finalist in the UK Small Business Awards

I’m very proud to share that Red Rose Media & Marketing has been named a finalist in the Best Digital Marketing Agency category at The UK Small Business Awards.

The awards celebrate the achievements of small businesses and entrepreneurs across the UK. Being recognised nationally for the work I do to support small businesses, charities and health-related organisations is a big milestone for me and my business.

From NHS communications to running my own business

I launched Red Rose Media & Marketing in October 2023 alongside my role in NHS communications. Within 12 months, I had made the decision to leave the corporate world and become a full-time freelancer.

Nearly 20 years of experience across broadcast journalism, NHS communications and digital marketing now underpin everything I do.

Based in Cannock Chase, Staffordshire, I support clients with digital marketing strategy, social media management, website development, SEO, content creation, video and their wider online profile.

My work is about much more than simply posting more content or following the latest online trend.

“My approach to digital marketing starts with understanding the business, the audience, the message and the action we want people to take. From there, I look at how everything connects from websites and SEO to social media and content to create a clear and joined-up strategy that delivers real value for the business.”

Helping small businesses get found, trusted and chosen online

I work with a range of mainly local clients, from small businesses and charities to therapy, treatment and wellbeing businesses.

Some are launching their online profile for the first time. Others have an established business, but their website, social media or wider digital marketing no longer reflects the quality of their work.

I help them get found, trusted and chosen online by bringing the different parts of their digital marketing together.

That could mean improving their visibility through local SEO, strengthening their website content, creating a clearer social media strategy or turning technical products and services into useful, accessible content.

My background in communications also means storytelling and building trust are important parts of my work. I help businesses explain what they do clearly and communicate in a way that feels professional, human and authentic.

Making digital marketing feel more manageable

A key part of my approach is making digital marketing feel less overwhelming.

Many small business owners know they need to improve their website, post more consistently or become easier to find online. But when they are busy supporting clients or running their organisation, marketing can quickly move down the list.

“Many of my clients come to me feeling completely overwhelmed by digital marketing. I want them to understand what they are doing, why it matters and how it supports their goals. The strategy needs to be realistic and manageable, as well as effective.”

Since becoming a full-time digital marketing consultant, I have continued to develop the support I offer. Alongside strategy, social media, websites, SEO and content creation, I now provide Power Hours, masterclasses, training and group offers.

These different options mean businesses can choose the level of digital marketing support that works for them, whether they want me to deliver the work, help them build a strategy or give them the confidence to manage more themselves.

What being an award finalist means to me

Red Rose Media & Marketing began with a few people asking me for help with their social media. It has grown into a full-time business supporting organisations across a range of sectors.

The motivation behind it remains simple. I want to help people doing meaningful work communicate it effectively.

“My values are fairness, honesty, trust and authenticity and I wanted to create a business that was strategic but approachable, professional but human, and helped people show up online in a way that feels true to them.”

Being named a UK Small Business Awards finalist is an important milestone for a Staffordshire digital marketing business that started less than three years ago.

Red Rose Media & Marketing will now go forward to the final, with the overall winner due to be announced at an awards event later this year.
